This was part of Treaty of Paris’ Christmas show… they invited several bands that they were friends with to perform a few acoustic songs before their headlining set. And it was amazing. Since each band only played for about 15 minutes, the night was jam packed with great local music.
Adam & Chris from AM Taxi played three songs, including an original Christmas song, and as always were fantastic.
Despite the rest of the sets having, in general, great light, AM Taxi’s set was shrouded in blue light and fog. If it was a more active set, this probably would have bothered me, but since it was an acoustic three-song thing, I embraced the blue. My main concern was to not blow out the blue channel, since, as with any heavy color wash, that’s how details are lost, and otherwise, just looked for interesting, artsy light effects.
Also, Double Door has no pit, so I was on the stage left side for most of these (with just a quick hop over to the other side). Since I was off to the side, and both were sitting, I do have mic stands in many shots, but again, since it was acoustic, it doesn’t bother me as much. I think it adds a bit more of an intimate vibe.
This was shot with the 5D Mark II and a mix of primes (35mm, 50mm, 85mm, & 135mm).
